"The California Tahoe Conservancy's
mission is to preserve, protect, restore,
enhance and sustain the unique and
significant natural resources and
recreational opportunities of the Lake
Tahoe Basin."
The Conservancy supports the efforts of Lake Tahoe Water Trail Committee and others to promote sustainable non-motorized boating recreation on Lake Tahoe. For more information, see www.laketahoewatertrail.org
The Conservancy is also participating with other public agencies and interest groups in both California and Nevada to develop a program to meet the needs of non-motorized boat users. This program will establish:
a shared vision and guiding principles for non-motorized boat use;
common management and facility upgrade/expansion objectives; and
coordinated public outreach, educational, and interpretive strategies.
Developing common objectives is a collaborative effort of 11 Working Group members supported by the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program. The Working Group will meet no more than once/month and will include opportunities for broad community participation. Working Group meetings will be open to anyone who wishes to attend. Meeting agendas will be available at this website prior to each meeting. For more information, please contact Sue Rae Irelan, Program Analyst at sirelan@tahoe.ca.gov or call (530) 525-9137.
